TLTA's 2017 Legislative Report Now Available

By TLTA Staff
June 29, 2017

The 85th Session of the Texas Legislature was one of the most intense and challenging sessions our industry has experienced in some time. While TLTA fought for two specific issues on our affirmative agenda – namely, adverse possession against co-tenant heirs and lis pendens expungement – some well-funded special interest groups fought hard in an attempt to re-regulate our industry. We are delighted to say we defeated them during the session, but we know this battle is far from over and will definitely resurface during the 86th legislature.

Now that the session is complete, we are proud to present our 2017 Legislative Report. It contains:
A summary of the 85th Session of the Texas Legislature
An analysis of the bills that could have or will impact our industry
A synopsis of TLTA's efforts to work with legislators to develop and pass legislation that will protect our industry and, ultimately, Texas homeowners
A detailed list of the most important bills TLTA was following, the bills' impact and their ultimate outcome in the legislature
