Dear TLTA Member,
With the Legislative session in full swing, there's a lot on the
agenda for TLTA this month. Our legislative/lobby team is spending
most of their time at the Capitol and in meetings, and we're working
behind the scenes to increase our visibility on issues that directly
affect our industry. We need your help in order to make the most
decisive impact we can on proposed legislation.
One of the best ways for you to get involved in the legislative
process is by attending
TLTA's Day at
the Capitol on March 2 in Austin.
This grass
roots event is designed to give you an opportunity to meet
face-to-face with your Representative or Senator to discuss issues
affecting the title insurance industry and to see our state
government at work.

impact!
Just as a reminder,
submissions to
the Nominating Committee for nominations for the 2005-2006 Board of
Directors are currently being accepted.
If you know of someone who would be a good candidate to serve as a
TLTA Board member, please forward your nomination to the TLTA
office for consideration by the Nominating Committee. Members of the
Board of Directors have the unique opportunity to become part of a
team of professionals who work diligently on behalf of TLTA and the title
industry. Members who are employed by an agent or underwriter are eligible to serve on
the Board and all submissions will be considered by the Nominating
Committee. The deadline for nominations is March 1, 2005. For more
information email
leslie@tlta.com.
The Right Rules Seminar and Houston Regional Seminar were held
February 8, 9 and 10 with excellent attendance at all sessions. And,
we have sold out for this year's Land Title School to be held
March 7-11 in Austin. We will have two seminars for title
professionals coming up in April. The Advanced Closing Workshop
will be held in Houston on April 19 and Managing The Title
Industry Terrain on April 20. Don't miss these great
opportunities to enhance your professional skills and earn CEUs at
the same time.
Click here to register for either of these seminars.
If you haven’t already done so, mark your calendar for this year’s
TLTA Annual Conference at The Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine. The
conference will be held June 9-11, and promises to offer a great
time and excellent educational opportunities at a fantastic new
location. As an added bonus, we've reduced full member registration
fees by 26%! That means a full member registration that cost $400
last year will now cost $295.

As sometimes is
the case, I get caught up in the day-to-day hectic pace, and forget
to thank all of you for your support and assistance. Whether it's
meeting with your legislators during the session, testifying at
hearings on TLTA’s behalf, or serving as an instructor at one of our
seminars, you have given unselfishly of your time and expertise in
support of our association. As always, if you need assistance or
have a question, please contact me or a TLTA staff member.
Sincerest regards,

Terry Grantham
TLTA President
