A Message From the President

Dear TLTA Member,

I know some of you were able to enjoy Spring Break this month, but here in the Hub City it was hard to think of spring with 3 inches of snow on the ground. There hasn't been much of a break in Austin, with the Legislature in session our lobby team is spending most of their time at the Capitol tracking key bills and moving our legislative agenda forward.

Our conference committee and staff are in high gear finalizing plans for this year's Annual Conference to be held June 9-11 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine. I would like to extend a personal invitation to each of you to attend this year's conference. The program includes a fantastic line-up of topics and speakers that you won't want to miss, as well as some unique "just for fun" events to keep you entertained. To sweeten the deal, we've reduced full member registration fees by 26% this year! That means a full member registration that cost $400 last year will now cost $295. Watch your mail for the conference brochure and in-depth program descriptions, or go to www.tlta.com to register online. Click here for more information.

And speaking of planning ahead, it's never to early to plan a trip to Lake Tahoe. Join us for the 96th Annual Conference to be held Monday - Wednesday, June 5-7 at Lake Tahoe.

We recently launched new Legislative/Regulatory pages on the TLTA Web site. This section has been revamped and expanded to offer legislative and regulatory information in a more organized and user-friendly format. Click here to explore this new member benefit.

The
TLTA Board of Directors will meet on April 7, 2005 at 9 a.m. at the Hilton Hotel in Austin. As always, members are welcome to attend. Please contact Leslie Midgley at the TLTA office if you’re planning to be at the April meeting.

We continue to receive very positive feedback regarding TLTA’s seminars and other educational programs. The Land Title School was sold out for the third year in a row, with more and more employers sending their staff to this week-long program. Many thanks to our members who serve on the School Committee as well as our staff and speakers.
