Dear TLTA Member,
I thank you for
giving me the opportunity to
represent TLTA during the coming year. I hope to build on the
foundation of sound fiscal policies and inclusiveness of all parties
within our industry that has been so ably put in place by Dave
Ginger, Jack Rattikin III and Jim Johnson these past few years.
The
past year has brought challenges
to the title industry on both
the state and national level. As
members of the industry, we
have overcome some difficult issues, but many remain unresolved. There
is much that needs to be done as we
prepare for the inevitable changes within
our industry. National trends are altering every aspect of our
work, beginning with the manner in which much of our business
originates.
Clients' and lenders' expectations of the title agent's role have
increased exponentially. Fewer agents offer
the full complement of products and services
formerly associated with the traditional title insurance agent;
many
are specializing in a particular aspect
of the business versus
the full -service
shop of the past. Technology today
plays a far
greater role than any of us would have ever imagined. We are
challenged to change the way we think, and to lay the cornerstone of
our future success through adaptability, flexibility, and
creativity.
These are but a
few of the challenges I see ahead of us. We have
an excellent staff and a talented Board of Directors to help us in
this transition, and to
keep the organization
focused on major issues. As we look ahead, I hope to foster
increased collaboration among all the members of TLTA,
for only through recognizing our common goals will we have the most positive and
immediate impact
on our industry and in every community
we represent.
We need your ideas and questions to keep TLTA moving
forward. You are the foundation of the
organization, its
strength, and
its dynamic energy. I challenge you to contribute
to our growth with
your involvement and support.
In
closing, I ask for your help as I venture into unknown territory. I
don't have all the answers, but I can assure you that
I will give every question careful consideration. I am here to listen to
you and learn from
you, the members of TLTA. If you have questions or suggestions,
please feel free to contact me or a TLTA staff member.
Best regards,

Terry Grantham
TLTA President
