Dear TLTA Member,

As fall approaches I always look forward to following my favorite football team again, and this year is no exception. I guess you could say I qualify as the ultimate fan, with my game day wardrobe and vehicle outfitted to let everyone know my support is true blue (or is that red and black?)  TLTA staff and leadership are preparing for a very busy fall as well, with two Regional Seminars, a new rules seminar, an October Board meeting, and a number of committee and task force meetings already on the schedule in the next few months.

The Texas Department of Insurance has adopted amendments to the Basic Manual, including form T-37A, P-27 and the Texas Title Insurance Statistical Plan effective November 1, 2004. We continue to actively work on a variety of regulatory issues as recently reported in Dateline Austin.  The deadline for submitting agenda items to TDI for the 2004 Biennial Hearing was September 7. As soon as we have a list of all filed agenda items, we will make that information available to you.

Time is running out to register for the West Texas Regional Seminar to be held in Midland on September 22 at the Midland Hilton and Towers. Click here for on-line registration or to download a registration form. (You may also register on-site the day of the seminar.) Also coming up, the Central Texas Regional Seminar will be held in San Antonio on October 19 & 20. Please note the new location for this year’s seminar, which has been held in Austin in the past. We will also introduce a new seminar entitled Understanding Endorsements & Right Rules, Correct Calculations Workshop in San Antonio on October 21. If you are unable to attend in October, the Right Rules seminar is also on the calendar in various locations throughout the state. For those of you who usually attend the Dallas/Fort Worth Regional Seminar, please remember it is being held November 17 & 18 at the Omni Dallas Hotel. The TLTA Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at the Omni San Antonio Hotel in conjunction with the Central Texas Regional Seminar. As I travel to several of our Regional seminars this year, I look forward to the opportunity of meeting and visiting with many of you.
