This month we kick-off TLTA’s Individual Membership Campaign for 2005-2006 and announce an incredible opportunity for Individual Members to have a chance to win a 42” Plasma TV.

As you probably know, TLTA’s most important purpose is to represent you at the Texas Department of Insurance hearings, at the State Legislature and even in DC on federal issues - and our effectiveness as an advocate for the title industry is directly related to the number of members we have.  When we talk to a legislator or congressman, usually the first thing they ask is how many people does TLTA represent.  We realized that we could greatly increase our strength and impact if our membership more closely reflected the number of people who work in the industry – instead of just the number of companies. 

While we don’t have an exact number, we estimate there are 10 – 12,000 people who work in the title business in Texas. That’s a lot of folks and those numbers represent incredible potential. When you join TLTA as an Individual Member, our numbers go up and our effectiveness as an association increases dramatically.

Being an Individual Member really benefits you, too. First, it only costs $20 a year, and for that you’ll be “in the loop” to get all the TLTA newsletters, updates and special alerts sent directly to your email address. You will also receive information about TLTA educational seminars, your name will be listed in the Annual Membership Directory and you’ll receive a nice certificate indicating your status as a member of TLTA. But, most importantly, you will have a voice in the industry and in your future.

We support ourselves and our families by working in the title industry, and it’s a privilege to be a part of it, but along with that privilege comes responsibility.  I think it is your responsibility, just as it is mine, to support TLTA by becoming an Individual Member. There really is strength in numbers, and we need you in our ranks.
