Applying for the Certification Program

Eligibility

To take a TLTA certification exam, you must meet specific requirements in title insurance industry education and work experience. If you've been in the industry for several years, you likely possess the necessary experience to apply for the exam.

  Industry Work Experience Industry Education
CESP Minimum 3 years 20 hours in the past 5 years
CAEP Minimum 3 years 20 hours in the past 5 years
CTIP 10 years or a prior CESP and CAEP certification 20 hours in the past 5 years

  • Certified Escrow Settlement Professional (CESP): Ideal for title insurance professionals in the escrow/settlement area.
  • Certified Abstract Examination Professional (CAEP): Designed for title insurance professionals working in the examination/abstract area.
  • Certified Title Insurance Professional (CTIP): Tailored for title professionals with experience and knowledge in both escrow/settlement and examination/abstract areas.

To process your application, a non-refundable processing fee is required. This payment should be made once you have submitted your application.

The application fee should be paid once you have submitted your certification application. Upon receipt of your application fee and application approval, TLTA will send you information to pay your exam fee and set a date to test.
