John P. Bruce is Senior Vice President of Commercial Escrow at Heritage Title Company of Austin, Inc., and he will be TLTA’s 106th President. Bruce’s nearly 40 year title insurance career started in the mail room. He has served as TLTA board member and agent section chair, chaired TLTA’s Certification and Federal Issues committees, and he is a member of TLTA’s Basic Manual Task Force and Regulatory Committee. Bruce is a past recipient of TLTA’s “Young Title Person of the Year” and is a 2010 “Professional Excellence Award” winner. He has earned TLTA’s Certified Title Insurance Professionals designation, and in July of 2013, he was awarded the National Title Professional designation by ALTA.

Mindy has been teaching group fitness and yoga classes for 36 years, has worked as a Personal Trainer for 24 years and is an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist. She studied yoga in India under direct students of BKS Iyengar, a strength and alignment based practice. Over the years she has taught at numerous resorts in the Caribbean, and loves teaching classes in the park. Her students teach her more than her certifications and she enjoys finding ways to help with what ails the body.
NASM Certified Personal Trainer, ELDOA Level 3 Practitioner
As an active person and believer in exercise, Laura has worked with trainers all over the US and Canada in various forms of weight training, yoga, myofascial stretching and ELDOA. While working in the film industry and having long periods of time away from her regular exercise routines, working long hours, and spending time in front of a computer, Laura sought out a solution to her increasing back pain and loss of functionality doing the things she enjoys in her everyday life.
Laura began ELDOA and myofascial stretching as a client in 2011 and found consistent practice relieved her back pain and restored the functionality she had lost. Believing strongly in the practice, Laura has since become certified in ELDOA as a Level 3 Practitioner as well as a NASM certified personal trainer. She is also a student in Guy Voyer’s 3-year SOMA program earning her SOMA practitioner certification.

Aaron Day is TLTA’s general counsel, and he directs the association’s government affairs program. In addition to lobbying for TLTA during legislative sessions, Day manages the association's role and participation in Texas Department of Insurance regulatory activities, including rate hearings, rule hearings and other regulatory responsibilities.

Dr. Jim Gaines is chief economist at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University and focuses on housing and land development issues. Dr. Gaines spent sixteen years with KPMG and Arthur Andersen providing real estate consulting services. He also served as president of Rice Center, an urban research center affiliated with Rice University, where he directed the real estate, urban economics, and demographic research programs. Dr. Gaines has consulted for major corporations, developers, investors, financial institutions and government agencies across the country on a variety of subjects, including real estate research and education, urban economics, land use analysis and development, and project risk assessment.

Scott Gillen is Senior Vice President, Division Manager, National Agents at Stewart Title. During his tenure with Stewart, Gillen has managed key national lender relationships and has been critical to development of Stewart’s overall lender strategy through various market cycles, overseeing client relationships including Stewart’s GSE relationships. Additionally, he spearheaded Stewart’s digital closing strategies. Gillen is an active member of industry trade associations, serving in various roles for the Mortgage Bankers Association, Texas Mortgage Bankers Association and American Land Title Association. He formerly served as President of the Houston Mortgage Bankers Association. Gillen received the Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation from the Mortgage Bankers Association in 1997, as well as the Larry Temple Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association.

As CEO of Knight Barry Title, Craig Haskin oversees 65+ offices and 400+ employees in four states - Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Florida. His areas of expertise are title insurance, complicated closings and troubled titles. Haskins is a past president of the Wisconsin Land Title Association and has a seat on the American Land Title Association Agent Board. He established the rules for electronic recording in Wisconsin and recorded the first electronic deed in Wisconsin. He is the co-host of the title insurance podcast THAT FLOATS, which you can watch on most social media networks.

Roland Love is Vice President, Business Alliances & Field Operations, for Independence Title. His legal expertise on real estate and title matters is recognized industry-wide. Love has served as chair of the State Bar of Texas Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section, fellow in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, member of the Texas Title Examination Standards Board, and as an examiner for the State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. He has served as chair of TLTA’s Texas Land Title Institute and TLTA’s Judiciary Committee, as well as vice chair of the TLTAPAC Board of Trustees. In 2018, Love was awarded TLTA’s highest honor, Title Person of the Year, recognizing significant and longtime contributions to the title industry and the association.
Leslie Midgley, CAE

Leslie Midgley has served as Executive Vice President and CEO of Texas Land Title Association since 2001, and her professional service to TLTA spans nearly four decades. Midgley has served as chair of the Texas Society of Association Executives Board of Directors, and she received TSAE’s Distinguished Executive Award in 2013. In 2017, Midgley served as President/Board Chair of the Girl Scouts of Central Texas.

Mary O'Donnell is president and CEO of Westcor Land Title Insurance Company, a national title insurance underwriter. As CEO, O'Donnell's expertise spans the full range of operational functions drawing on her prior role in legal management. She was recruited and appointed to the role of CEO in 2004. Under her leadership, the company has grown from a three-state underwriter with a handful of employees and gross revenues of approximately $40 million, to a national underwriter grossing in excess of $500 million and employing a staff of seasoned key professionals. She is currently President of the American Land Title Association.

Michael C. Savas is Senior Vice President for First American Agency Operations in Texas and Oklahoma. Prior to his current position, he served as manager of the Texas Underwriting Department in Texas as well as acting as corporate counsel for First American in Texas. He began his career in the title industry in 1992 and has served the industry in many roles, including residential examiner, commercial examiner, residential closer, commercial closer, commercial division manager, underwriter, and as counsel. Savas is TLTA’s outgoing president, and his service to TLTA also includes serving as Underwriter Section Chair of the TLTA Board of Directors, member of the TLTA Legislative and Regulatory committees, and member of the TLTAPAC Board of Trustees.
