The goal of this course is to familiarize title insurance professionals and settlement agents with the fundamentals of minors owning property and how to address such ownership interests for title insuring purposes. Upon completion of the course, attendees should:
- Have a general understanding of the different ways a minor can come into ownership of real property;
- Have a better understanding of the various requirements of Texas law for the sale of a minor’s interest in real property based upon the manner of title which the minor’s interest is held;
- Have a better understanding of differing requirements to sell or mortgage a minor’s interest based upon the dollar value of the interest;
- Review the 4 step process required of a guardian to sell property.
