SOAH Delays Rate Hearing until September Based on Ruling Earlier Today

A pre-hearing conference was held this morning at the State Office of Administrative Hearings in advance of the title insurance rate hearing which was to be held next week. The administrative law judges hearing the case ruled on motions and objections and discussed scheduling matters. One of the motions under consideration was a Motion by OPIC to Compel Discovery. The judges ruled in favor of OPIC making it impossible for the parties involved in the discovery to meet the deadline by next week. Therefore, the judges rescheduled the hearing to begin on September 14, 2009 and continue throughout that week.

As we have previously reported, TLTA has filed testimony recommending a rate increase. We are disappointed by this morning’s ruling delaying the hearing, but we will continue to represent your interests as we prepare for the hearing in September.
