Let me start by saying thank you to everyone who responded to the business continuity questions that I sent yesterday. We heard from well over half of our TLTA companies – an unprecedented response. Our industry is simply the best! I had hoped to be able to personally reply to each of the 350+ emails I received, but under these unusual circumstances, I hope you’ll forgive me for this group thank you and response.
The information you sent was critical to our understanding of the situation and is helping us set our priorities. Here are the five key things we are working on for you today:
Working to have title insurance listed among state's essential businesses
This distinction will be very important if state officials temporarily close additional Texas businesses. Here’s the latest news on statewide restrictions
Seeking solutions to RON-related challenges
It is clear that full RON availability needs to be more widely available and there are a limited number of lenders approving those. We are working to identify who those lenders are so we can let you know. We are also working to educate the lending community as well as the secondary market on how critical availability of this tool is to continued real estate closings in this current environment.
Working with TDI to address compliance challenges
Our conversations with TDI have been very productive. They published an insurance wide notice today that the Department is looking at ways to make regulations easier to comply with during this crisis. We expect more title specific regulatory information to be published in the very near future and will share that as soon as we have it.
Providing the latest on county/district clerk closures and operational changes
Review the lastest county operations information

Arming you with business continuity best practices and safe closing protocols
were generated by our members, and we encourage you to continue sharing your ideas and success stories with us. Now is the time for everyone to prepare and implement needed changes.
We are fielding an extremely high volume of calls, emails, texts, right now. We want to respond and will respond to every one of those, but please know that our response time may be a bit longer than normal. We are very grateful for your patience as we focus on all these high priority items. Please know all of us are working around the clock to support our industry in the midst of a challenging public health crisis. We remain committed to doing all we can to help you.
I'm working remotely and the best way to reach me right now is on my cell at 512.657.0243. Call me anytime. If you don’t catch me, leave a message and I will get back to you just as soon as I can.
