Trial Balances, Dormant Funds and Escheating

There is no higher duty a title insurance company has than ensuring escrowed funds (aka OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY) are handled appropriately.  Often, our real estate transactions result in funds being held in the file, reflected on the trial balance or they may be unclaimed funds (for example, uncashed escrow checks).   After attending this webinar, the attendee will be able to:

Review the Trial Balance for funds being held
Understand the concept of Unclaimed Property as defined by the Texas Comptroller
Understand the responsibilities for an Unclaimed Property Holder (the title company)
Understand (in general) the reporting requirements of Unclaimed Property
Understand how to implement Good Business Practices for Managing Escrows

Presenters:
Scott Florez, VP, New Mexico State Manager I Southwest Agency Services, WFG National Title Insurance Company

Pricing:
Member $40
Nonmember $54

CE Credit:
1.0 Escrow Credit

An Intermediate webinar is for those with some experience on the topic and the title industry. The webinar may include real-world application and specific and detailed information.

Under Procedural Rule P-28 II I-6, TDI will not award credit hours for completing the same course more than once per reporting period.
