A Message From the President

TLTA President

November 17, 2004

Dear TLTA Member,

November has been another busy month for all of us at TLTA. There have been a number of meetings and seminars on the schedule as well as a special P-53 hearing and preparation for the December Rule Hearing. The following is a brief report on our progress on these and other issues of concern to you.

TLTA was well represented at the P-53 hearing that was held on November 2 at the Texas Department of Insurance. TLTA supports Procedural Rule P-53, but believes that some modification and clarification might be appropriate based on input received from our membership. We are working with other interested parties regarding their concerns about this important Rule and will keep you informed as developments occur. Please note, the P-53 issue will also be an agenda item at the upcoming Rule Hearing on Dec. 15.

The 2004 Texas Title Insurance Biennial Rule Hearing will be held on December 15, 2004 in Room 100 of the William P. Hobby, Jr. State Office Building, 333 Guadalupe Street in Austin. Our Rates, Rules and Forms committee and Board of Directors have been working on our position on the various agenda items that have been proposed. To review the agenda items under consideration and TLTA’s position, please click here. We will keep the TLTA Web site updated with last minute changes and amendments, so I urge you to stay up-to-date by checking the Web site regularly.

Our newest TLTA seminar, Right Rules, Correct Calculations Workshop was held this week in Dallas in conjunction with the Dallas Regional Seminar. We have had excellent attendance at our fall seminars as well as positive feedback from attendees regarding the high quality of the content and presenters. Coming up December 2-3 the ever popular Texas Land Title Institute will be held at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort in San Antonio. I attend this program every year and I can attest to the fact that it is top notch. If you are interested in registering for the Institute, click here.

Next week we can all look forward to sharing Thanksgiving with our loved ones and friends. I would like to extend my warmest wishes to you and your family as we gather together to give thanks for the blessings and abundance we enjoy in this great land.

I look forward to seeing many of you in December, and, as always, please feel free to contact me or a TLTA staff member if you need assistance with a TLTA matter.

Warmest regards,

Terry Grantham
TLTA President
