Dear ,

The last couple of months have been very busy at TLTA. A 3.8% rate increase — our industry's first in more than 20 years — went into effect May 1. The 83rd Legislative Session adjourned on May 27, only to immediately go back into a Special Session, and Gov. Rick Perry appointed a new Commissioner of Insurance.

I'm pleased to report that our association's staff and lobby team once again guided us through another successful Legislative Session, staying on top of not only our affirmative agenda, but defending the industry against harmful legislation.

You can hear all about this legislation and the impact it will have on our industry at TLTA's Annual Conference & Business Meeting, June 19-21, in Austin. In addition to the legislative update, there are sessions led by expert speakers on preventing escrow theft, new lender requirements, preparing for new CFPB regulations and how you can protect your company from cyber fraud — just to name a few. There will also be plenty of opportunities for fun and networking, including the opening night party, and President's Reception with dinner, dancing and a live auction and breakfasts benefiting the TLTAPAC with special speaker Colt McCoy! Learn more and register here.

As we wrap up another year at TLTA, I would like to thank all of the many volunteers who have made this past year a success. I would particularly like to thank the TLTA Board of Directors, our committee chairs and members, the lobby and rate hearing teams and Leslie Midgley and her staff at TLTA, for all of their hard work and support throughout my year as president.

I particularly enjoyed meeting so many of our members across the state this year. It's truly been an honor to serve as your association's president, and I appreciate the trust you placed in me. I wish incoming TLTA President Joe Grealish the best in the new TLTA year ahead — he will be a great leader for our organization — and I hope to see many of you in Austin at the conference next week!
