TLTA Executive VP & CEO Leslie Midgley Honored With Top Association Award

At its recent statewide conference, the Texas Society of Association Executives (TSAE) honored Texas Land Title Association (TLTA) Executive Vice President and CEO Leslie Midgley, CAE, with the Distinguished Executive Award.

TSAE's highest award honors a chief executive who demonstrates outstanding leadership and achievement in association management.

"Leslie has been a leader within TSAE for many years, and her involvement includes teaching, being a mentor, facilitator, committee chairman, board member and chairman," said TSAE President and CEO Beth Brooks, CAE. "She has been at the forefront of many new initiatives, and her experience and thoughtful opinions have helped shape policies and allowed for candid, essential conversations."

Midgley joined the TLTA staff over 31 years ago and has been involved in every aspect of the association’s operations since that time, serving as Executive Vice President and CEO since 2001. Read Full Press Release »

TLTA Staffer Participates in National Young Professional Summit

 TLTA Communications and Information Specialist Ryan Poulos recently attended the American Society for Association Executive's NextGen Summit in Reno, NV, where a select group of young professionals from associations across the country discussed the issues impacting young association professionals. 

Topics included whether the label of "young professional" is harmful or helpful, how associations can become more responsive to societal shifts and what the biggest barriers are for younger association members. Poulos is also participating in the Texas Society of Association Executives' Leadership Academy, a nine-month program designed to help participants develop well-rounded skills and a broader knowledge base, which you can read more about here.

How do you sort out who needs to sign when someone in title dies without a will? This webinar will review the Texas intestacy laws, as well as contain some scenarios for participants to interact and help determine who may need to come to closing. The basics of intestacy will also be discussed, as well as types of probates commonly used when a deceased dies without a will. Other intestacy issues discussed include adopted individuals and disclaimer of interests.
