TLTA President Dawn Moore was recently named by the Dallas Business Journal as one of its Women in Business award winners. The Women in Business Awards program recognizes outstanding Dallas women business leaders who not only are making a difference in their industries, but also in their communities. Now in its seventh year, the group of this year's honorees represent industries ranging from oil and energy to legal to aviation and aerospace to healthcare to manufacturing to communications. The Texas economy gained 408,700 non-agricultural jobs from July 2013 to July 2014, an annual growth rate of 3.7 percent compared with 1.9 percent for the United States. The state's non-government sector added 375,600 jobs, an annual growth rate of 4 percent compared with 2.2 percent for the nation's private sector. Texas' seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 5.1 percent in July 2014 from 6.4 percent in July 2013. The nation’s rate decreased from 7.3 to 6.2 percent. Read More »

First Western Title Announces Transition to Independently Owned Company

First Western Title, previously an affiliate of Colonial Savings, has announced that it is now fully owned and operated as an independent title company by First Western Title Acquisition, LLC. Colonial sold its title affiliate in response to Dodd-Frank legislation, which impacts the relationship between mortgage lenders and affiliated service providers such as title companies.
