CFPB Adds New TRID Webinars

CFPB presented five webinars on the TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosures, which answer a number of questions the agency has received. Those questions and answers are now more easily accessible through a new index that allows you to link directly to specific topics within each of the webinars.

Harrell Feldt receives the first Terry Lee Grantham Memorial Award 

Harrell Feldt of Kerrville received the first Terry Lee Grantham Memorial Award from the Texas Bar Foundation during a ceremony in San Antonio in June. The Terry Lee Grantham Memorial Award will be presented annually to an outstanding Texas lawyer. It was endowed through the Texas Bar Foundation in 2014 by Terry’s family and friends. The award is given in memory of Terry, a very active TLTA member and Past President who lived and practiced law in Lubbock, and passed away in December 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. Each recipient of this award must exemplify the qualities of an accomplished, talented and dedicated practitioner, a servant of the profession and an advocate for those we serve, demonstrating dedication and service with the same passion that defined Terry’s life and work.

Title Industry Veteran Tim Redding Retires

35-year title industry veteran Tim Redding recently announced his retirement as Senior Underwriting Counsel from First National Title Insurance Company, effective July 31st. He will continue to serve as Of Counsel at FNTI. Well known for his love of fishing, Tim expects to spend more time on the water where a bad day of fishing beats a good day of working every time.

Tim began his title career in 1978 and gained experience working at both a title agency and national underwriting companies. Throughout his 35 year career in the title industry, he served in a variety of executive underwriting positions. Tim has been actively involved in the Texas Land Title Association for many years, serving on a number of committees as a member and as chairman.  He served as president of the TLTA in 1997-1998 and was named Title Person of the Year in 1993–the highest honor given by the Association. Redding is also a member of the State Bar of Texas.

George Stablein joined FNTI as Executive Vice President, Suzanne Tinsley as Vice President/Texas Agency Manager and NolaAnn Waggoner as Vice President/Underwriting Counsel. In Memory of Carl Pfeiffer (1932 – 2015) 
Longtime title industry member Carl Pfeiffer passed away on July 29 in San Antonio. After several years of private law practice, in 1958, Carl acquired Security Title Co. and Security Title & Trust, a title insurance company. He sold Security Title & Trust in 1968, and in 1974 he changed the name of Security Title Co. to First American Title Company of San Antonio. Over the years, Carl became an expert in title matters and was often consulted by attorneys and others in the title industry.

In Memory of Linda L. McMain (1936 – 2015)

Linda McMain of Blanco passed away July 27 in San Antonio. Linda began her work in the title industry almost 50 years ago in Blanco County.  She started Guardian Title Co., Inc in Blanco in the 1970s, selling it in 1983 and continuing to work there as an Abstractor.
