ALTA Announces New Homebuyer Outreach Program

ALTA | Oct. 9, 2015
The American Land Title Association (ALTA), the national trade association of the land title insurance and real estate settlement services industries, recently launched a new Homebuyer Outreach Program designed to increase consumer understanding of the benefits of title insurance.
The program provides ALTA members with resources to educate homebuyers about the benefits of purchasing an owner’s policy. The CFPB’s new integrated disclosures that homebuyers receive when buying a home label owner’s title insurance as “optional” on the new closing disclosure forms.

Where Are the Nation's Fastest-Growing Economies? Try West Texas

U.S. metro areas are the largest contributors to U.S. economic growth. The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) recently released GDP growth estimates for U.S. metro areas. Midland, Texas, led the nation by a wide margin, with its economy growing by 24.1% in 2014 — more than double the growth rate of second-place San Angelo, Texas.

Baby Boomers Driving Growth

Realtor Mag | Sept. 28, 2015
The highest gains in household formation have been by 65- to 74-year-olds, who accounted for 860,000 new households alone from the first half of 2014 to first half of 2015, according to Census Bureau data. The 55 to 64 age group comprised the second highest at 391,000, followed by people over 75 years of age who formed 264,000 new households during that time period.

Hackers' Latest Scam: Tricking Homebuyers into Wiring Them Settlement Funds

First Western Title Joins First International Title

First International Title | Sept. 16, 2015
First International Title has expanded its operations into Texas with the purchase of First Western Title. With the sale, First International Title will assume control of First Western Title’s offices based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, with branches located in Arlington, Burleson, Colleyville, Dallas and Fort Worth.

Margaret Cook Promoted to Deputy General Counsel and Senior Vice President for Alliant National

Alliant National Title Insurance Company announced the promotion of Margaret Cook to Deputy General Counsel and Senior Vice President. Cook is a 20 year veteran of the title insurance industry. Her most recent accomplishments include being the Immediate Past President of the Land Title Association of Colorado with additional service on the Association’s Legislative Affairs Committee and Education Committee. She is also Past Chair of Colorado’s Title Advisory Council.
