Congratulations to the 2016 Class of the Land Title School of Texas
The 2016 Land Title School of Texas was a rousing success! The School sold out in record time and, with 230 students, it was easily the largest School in the past decade. Led by chair Brenda Nelson and thanks to lots of hard work by the executive team of Brandi Abercrombie, CESA, CTIA; EJ Brent, CESA, CTIA; James M. Connors, Sr., CAEA; Christie Deckard, CESA, CTIA; Teresa Frost, CTIA and Cindy Hinson, as well as the hardworking School Committee, this year's School featured an amazing faculty of industry experts lending their knowledge. With an updated schedule and curriculum addressing recent changes – such as the new TRID implementation – everyone walked away with a great education.
Be sure to look at all the great School photos on TLTA's Facebook page!
TLTA would like to extend a very warm thank you to all of the sponsors who made the School possible:

TLTA Hosts Inter-Industry TRID Roundtable to Seek Solutions to Top Implementation Problem Areas
Yesterday, TLTA hosted about 50 inter-industry partners for a meeting in Austin to discuss the impact and implementation of TRID. Participants included representatives from the Texas Association of Realtors, the Independent Bankers Association of Texas, the Texas Bankers Association and the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association. Practitioners and compliance specialists from the title, lending and realtor side of things, as well as software experts, explored and debated the key problem areas and sought joint solutions to help make transactions flow more smoothly under the new regulations. The discussion was lively and very productive, and consensus was reached on a number of key items. TLTA hopes to compile the helpful information resulting from the discussion and very much appreciates the participation and open discussion from all our industry partners. A smaller task force will now work on developing some best practices that resulted from this dialogue, so look for more information coming your way as a result of this meeting.

Join TLTA's Grassroots Initiative
One of the most important ways that you can assist TLTA in the fight against the TAB/TPPF attack on the Texas title insurance system is to spread the truth to elected officials currently holding office as well as those running for office. TLTA recently sent an email with a link to a user-specific online form, requesting that members share their contact information so we can determine which legislative districts they are in and who represents them.
If you are a member and have not received the form, please contact TLTA at 512.472.6593 or

The Inscriber Mag | Feb. 10, 2016
Online shopping has completely transformed the mortgage technology landscape. Today’s customers prefer to get in touch with sellers remotely and do business online. They expect lenders to have an active presence online and deliver a complete buying experience. The lenders cannot afford to ignore these aspirations and therefore, mortgage technology needs to keep pace with the changing needs of customers.
